About Banh Mi Phuong

When visiting Hoi An, there is a popular Banh Mi spot that stood out on the map. Banh Mi Phuong, a Vietnamese sandwich baguette that has gained popularity for serving arguably one of the best Banh Mi in Vietnam. It has gained a global reputation after the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain praised it on his travel show.

Our Experience

Despite its fame, Banh Mi Phuong remains incredibly affordable. However, be prepared for long times – especially peak hours.

Visually stunning! It's making me hungry!

Is it worth the hype?

Visually, the Banh Mi looks stunning. We ordered number #3 on the menu: Banh Mi Thap Cam (Mixed Sandwich): A combination of meats, pâté, and fresh herbs.

Banh Mi Phuong menu. Each Banh Mi cost VND 25K-35K (US$1 - $1.50).

The Baguette is crispy on the outside, while inside remains soft and fluffy, really well-made. They were generous with the protein fillings, perfect if you’re a meat lover. We do wish there were more fresh herbs in there for a more balanced meat-to-vegetable ratio, but this is definitely our preference.

Conclusion

Arguable? Not necessarily the top-tier flavour you might expect, but still a decent Banh Mi, which is why we think it is still worth trying out when you’re visiting Hoi An.
