Hoi An's Signature Dish.
What Makes Cao Lầu So Special?
For our first meal in Hoi An, we went to a cute local shop next to the Japanese covered bridge which serves amazing Cao Lầu. This restaurant is called Cao lầu Không Gian Xanh.
Traditionally, the noodles are said to be made using water from specific local wells and ash from nearby islands—giving it a texture and flavor that’s nearly impossible to replicate elsewhere.
Our first time trying Cao Lầu
The noodles are thick, slightly chewy, and unlike anything we’ve tasted before. They’re topped with slices of savory pork, crispy crouton-like crackers, fresh greens, and just a small amount of rich broth—almost more like a sauce than a soup. Squeeze in some lime for some tanginess and add on chilly for some spice.
What surprised us most? It’s not overly saucy or heavy. Instead, every bite is balanced—earthy, smoky, fresh, and deeply satisfying.
Honestly, it might just be one of the most memorable bowls of noodles we ever have.

2. Look Out Point at Sungai Selangor Dam
After our breakfast, we’ve stopped by the Look out point at Sungai Selangor Dam. On the way to Fraser’s Hill coming from Kuala Kubu Bharu, you will definitely would pass by this amazing view of the Sungai Selangor Dam. We stopped by the Lookout Point to have a grasp of the scenic view. We do notice some people picnic here, as there are some tables and chairs available for the public. Plus it’s free! The dam was pretty filled this round, whereas the water level could be lower during dry seasons.
